A memorable holiday...

Our old family house is situated in the historic heart of Montepulciano, in Tuscany. Recently we have restored its west wing, transforming it into four charming apartments. We have taken great care to decorate the rooms, respecting the refined but simple country traditional style (wooden beams, terracotta floors, marble fireplaces) and offering, in the meantime, all the modern-day life comforts.

Montepulciano is perched on a high hill. From the apartments and the garden, the largest in town, you will enjoy the vast Tuscan landscape extending all around and you will feel as if you were in the middle of the countryside

Appartamenti in Giardino is an unusual place. We are almost certain that your stay will be a memorable moment of your holiday. Read and see more on the garden and the apartments...

...inside the Pearl of the 16th Century...

Montepulciano is a blend of Medieval as well as Renaissance architecture. You will notice it in the elegant Piazza Grande with the cathedral and palaces; in the long road traversing the city, lined with Medieval and 16th century façades, gothic and Renaissance churches; in the many romantic passages and charming little squares. Just outside the walls, the church of San Biagio is an exquisite example of Sangallo's architectural genius.

The Pearl of the 16th Century...famous for its Vino Nobile

Montepulciano's surrounding hills are covered with vineyards which produce the celebrated ruby red Nobile or noble wine, considered one of the best wines in Italy. Ancient wine cellars with their huge wine barrels are found in town as well as several wineries which will welcome your visit. You will hardly resist wine taste temptation.

The Nobile must age from 2 to 3 years, with minimum 1 year in wood barrel

From our garden, a very short walk will take you to one of the many restaurants in town. Once you arrive in Montepulciano, finally you can forget the car. And only when you are ready for a day trip in the region, you will have to drive again...

AN IDEAL BASE TO DISCOVER CENTRAL TUSCANY & WESTERN UMBRIA

Driving time from Montepulciano (in minutes) - Click to take a virtual tour...

From our gated garden where you can park your car, it takes only 2 minutes to drive out of town and reach the main crossroad. Here you can choose among several panoramic routes and many destinations - five of which are Unesco World Heritage sites - most of them no more than one hour away by car

You should not miss Pienza, the utopian Renaissance town; the untouched Orcia valley, brought to light by the Irish-American writer Iris Origo in one of her most poignant novels; the thermal baths at the foot of mount AmiataMontalcino with its famous Brunello wine; Siena, the breathtaking Medieval jewel; San Gimignano and its fourteen towers; Arezzo with the frescoes by Piero della Francesca; the romantic narrow streets of Cortona; Lake Trasimeno where Hannibal defeated the Romans more than 2200 years ago; Medieval Perugia; mystic Assisi, the town of San Francesco; Etruscan ChiusiOrvieto, with its cathedral that seems to dominate the world... For those who plan to come without a car, most of these destinations can be reached by bus and/or train. Read more...

Some guest comments

"I learned of these apartments through reviews on the internet. I was in town for Italian classes (...) One of the instructors told me that these are the nicest accommodations in Montepulciano, and I can believe it!"

"Sitting on our balcony, looking over the old gardens and into the countryside, it would be a strain to even believe you were in town. You see nothing of the town from there, but all countryside instead. It has no feel of being in town. Yet if you turn around and go out the front door, there it all is within easy walking distance. Put me in the camp that doesn't want to drive at night, drink, then drive back into the dark countryside. I LOVED that place."

"The garden is gated at one end and guests may park there. This is a major plus for Montepulciano, in which parking space is severely limited (...) We felt opulent having this space and a key-controlled gate into the bargain."

"When we stepped out of door, if there were no vehicles parked, you would not know which century you were in (...) Sometimes we would see older locals sitting and chatting. It was very peaceful, we had our windows open and could hear birds and the occasional church bells. Traffic inside the city walls is VERY limited."

"Our 6 nights in Montepulciano were absolutely magical (...) Our hosts were exceptionally gracious, friendly, welcoming and helpful and we would love to be able to return for another visit in the future. Staying in Montepulciano was one of the highlights of our holiday in Italy and we highly recommend this property."
